Dr. Alicia González, ND, DHANP

I graduated from Bastyr University with my Doctorate in Natural medicine in 2002. Afterwards, I did a one year teaching fellowship at Bastyr which led to me becoming an adjunct faculty member. I taught there for 9 years. I became board certified in Homeopathic Medicine in 2014.

I opened Serene Natural Health in 2015 in Edmonds, WA. It was my desire to open a multi faceted clinic that focused on treating brain health disorders including mental health and neurological conditions. As the old saying goes, “Life is what happens to you when you make other plans”. Needless to say, things did not go according to plan and Serene Natural Health evolved in to a Family Medicine clinic. I saw whole families from the little ones all the way up to seniors.

After COVID and 20 years in practice I decided to take a one year sabbatical. I moved to Florida to be close to family. During my sabbatical I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. After extensive research I learned that the people who experienced the best survival rates were those who employed both Western and Natural treatments. I underwent chemo and radiation while simultaneously consulting with Naturopathic and Homeopathic oncologists. I became very ill during my treatments. I was bedridden and needed multiple hospitalizations and surgeries. Spoiler alert - I am still alive and in remission!

Severe illness has a way of putting life in to perspective. During that time I did a lot of thinking and praying.

Whidbey Island has been my home away from home since childhood. Fifteen years ago I bought property in Freeland with the intent of moving to Whidbey for my retirement. During my illness I realized that I was ready to have a life that was not so hectic. I decided I was ready to move to the island for its slower pace of life, friendlier people and to be surrounded by its natural beauty. After a long 2 year sabbatical I am finally here and have opened a practice in Freeland.

I also thought that once I returned to medicine I would finally realize my dream of having a clinic focused on brain health. But after careful deliberation I realized that I shouldn’t limit myself or my patients. I can still treat patients with mental health and neurological conditions while working with whole families. I look forward to working with and welcoming everyone.
